TII tranny into SE questions
OK i finaly got the freaking flywheel off I got it out by using the impact gun and then hitting it w/a hammer/ But b4 that i was trying to pry it off and using a camgear pulling tool/Could you damage anything by doing this? B/c The camgear pulling thing went inside the pilot bearing i tink is called and you can see where it kinda went into the Eshaft ( this is just a little) should i be worried about this? And is there a easier way to put the tranny back in? Its a biatch!!! i coulnt get it back in with the help of my friend=(........and the last question How much do i have to cut in the transmission tunnel to fit the TII shifter? Thanks guys

Uhhh.....can we get some more specific info on your setup? You didnt just bolt up a TII flywheel and clutch to the SE engine, right?
Are we talking TII light flywheel and clutch with SE counterweight,or SE flywheel with a RB TII conversion clutch disc?Whats the setup, because there are a few variables when you install a TII tranny into an FB.
Personally,I prefer to cut the TII selector shaft down an inch and refit the tower so you dont have to cut the sheetmetal. If you dont want to do that, youll need to cut about 1-2 inches of metal at the back of the trans tunnel hole.A short throw shifter will lessen the distance to the edge in 2nd,4th and Rev.

Get a TII lightweight flywheel (for the correct size) and a pre-85 13B automatic counterweight (for the correct balance).

Yep.Thats what I was getting at.Nearly all types of rotaries have different weight rotors, thus different weight flywheels/counterweights.If you run the TII flywheel with an SE engine, youll be out of balance and the engine will vibrate itself to death at mid/high RPMS.It will run,but youll destroy your engine in a matter of time.
The quickest and cheapest way to get the TII tranny onto an SE engine is to buy Racing Beat's TII conversion clutch disc. Its sized for the 1st gen flywheel but splined for the TII tranny input shaft. That will allow you to avoid having to buy a full $400 flywheel/counterweight setup. Its only about 100 bucks, but its a copper puck, solid center clutch... so its not that easy to drive on the street. It all depends on what you feel is "streetable".

No it's not..... That disc is designed to allow the instalation of a T2 gear box with the early style bell housing onto a motor with the samll diameter frlywheels (n/a flywheels). Good luck finding one of those bell housings.
The easiest way is to use the GSL-SE counter weight, a T2 lightened flywheel and a T2 clutch. If you can find or have an early style rib case bell housing you can use the above mentioned disc and the stock GSL-SE flywheel.
