TII: fuel only or fuel and ignition?

i just wanted to get some more opinions on it. i was wondering, since i already have aftermarket ignition, if i should run a fuel only computer, and use mechanical ignition. or if i should get a fuel and ignition EMS.

im tight on money and in lack of expirience with doing a swap like this.

Fuel only is much simpler, and cheaper. Many Drag Racing setups use it too.

Fuel and spark is muuuch better because you can advance and retard timing under
any circumstances. Basically giving you muuuch better throttle response, fuel economy,
and lower EGT's.

The cons are that it is more expensive, a little more difficult to wire, and definately
more difficult to tune - especially for the inexperienced.

Good Luck.

Personally, I would get one that controls both, then run a flat timing curve (it would
mimick a locked distributor) until you get the fuel map perfect.

Then, you could unlock the timing map and play with it to squeeze even more power and
responsiveness out of it.

I need to know this, but what the hell do we use to send ingition signals to an aftermarket computer? This is really bugging my being as I wanna do this to my 12A thats going turbo also. This ignition retarding would really come in use.

Big difference in throttle response. A locked distributor/ignition map can
make your turbo car feel "lazy" off boost. I plan to re-install my Haltech soon, for
that reason, as well as my horrible fuel economy.

Use a 2nd Gen CAS - Crank Angle Sensor.
