Throttle spring problem??

Ok I went to start my car (just replaced the acc.pump) and there was no pressure from the gas pedal. I looked under the hood and it loks like the throttle is stuck open. So I push it back with a srewdriver, but it just opens bak up like the spring or something is broke on it. My question is this:
I can't see the spring, is there a way to get to it without removing the whole carb.Or could it be something else. Should I try and spray it down with wd-40??
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

spring is on the firewall side of the carb and it can be gotten to by removing the air cleaner and look down........BUT if you just replaced the pump diaphram I'd be looking at that linkage for the problem.

Well as far as I know this problem came about before this. You see before it was drivable but all of a sudden it just reved way up like the throttle was stuck open. I thought it was the acc. pump, but I guess it wasn't.

Well its not a spring, but when I push the throttle in to hard it gets stuck. THen I have to go under the hood and pull it back (its kinda hard). Does anyone know why it would all of a sudden start to bind like this. Need it fixed soon

My throttle stuck wide open once after I went wide open throttle (owning a Chevelle ). Pretty scary. Anyway, after getting stopped and cleaning my pants out I looked under the hood and found the linkage stuck along the side of a rubber boot that goes over one of the springs...this is visible on the firewall/passenger side of the car. Sorry, I'm @ work so dont have pics available right off hand. This boot is about 2 or three inches long. When I got home I used some Armour All to make sure it was clean and slick so it wouldn't happen again. Take a look at that.
