Custom make a bracket with a thin sheet of steel. I made one using steel, a vise, and a dremel. Will post pics when I get back home.

I wouldn't use thin steel. You don't want it bending when you mash the throttle. Something as thick as the alt bracket works well. Even a spare air pump bracket could be used. Just keep it from flexing.

I have one pic of the throttle bracket I fabbed up for the Edlebrock.

It's all about centering the threaded section of the cable and getting the angle correct. If you can spacially determine where it needs to be physically, then all that's left is to look around and come up with some steel that will fit in the location and tie into some nearby hardware like bellhousing bolts or whatever.

Why don't you just get a used throttle cable from a Se or a 2nd gen and mount it on the existing mount?

you really have to have the throttle cable from an SE to make that setup work. i'd make a thread in the wanted forum here and try and see if anyone has the cable. i saw a few people parting out SE's in there when i was browsing this morning. hey if you have any more pics of your car feel free to post them. i'd love to see more of it, interior and exterior!

here's a pic of my old 84 SE. you'll see the difference in the throttle cable on the SE and how it has rubber grommets and washers that secure the cable to the slotted bracket.

it looks like it'll work just fine. you shouldn't have a problem with that working on the road if it works in the driveway.

might want to angle the end down a bit so the wire doesn't kink on the sleeve opening. Just a few millimeters can make a world of difference.
