thoughts on purchasing a 1979.

How good a deal is this so far? looks fairly decent to me.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=4561616184

I'm looking at purchase options. Any ideas why the bidding hasnt even hit $1000 yet? The interior looks decent, exterior has orig graphics which i like..

That is a beutiful example of an early production '79, I would love to have those seats and door panels. Id say buy it that cars gunna be worth some cash in the not so distant future.

I say go for it. It looks nice, and if it weren't on the other side of the country I would consider bidding on it myself.

Looks to be a great car. Easily worth $1500 to 2K.

Good deal...
I paid 1,100 for my 79. Was the original owner and in pretty good shape, but low miles. Got it at 65,000.

thanks, i had meant "FB" but i still was way off. I guess SA must be slightly different body style than the FB? I'll look thru more FAQ pages.

wonder if linking pix from ebay works..

Very sweet looking car. Good luck with the bid. You would be getting a great deal, should you win with the current bid.

Very good chance of that, but rest assured I am not one of those who are waiting. It takes money to do things, and I can't do much right now..........

You should be the one waiting in the last 3 seconds to screw those who are waiting in the last 10 seconds! Thats what I usually do for things I want off ebay

I have a freind that is currently looking at 2 different 79's, both local.
Had I not found my 83 at a killer price, I would have rather gotten a 79. $500 was just too good to pass up, for this:

The front and rear were restyled beginning with the FB's introduction in '81. Bumpers, taillights, and the thicker side rubber strip are dead giveaways for the FB.

Ditto. It avoids the hasty overbidding typical when people are in the "I wanna win" mode, rather than the "How much is this thing worth max" mode.

well, im off the hook. and im relieved for now. I wasnt positive i wanted a 79 yet. I jumped in a bit too hastily to that auction cuz they were rare to come by. by later, all kinds of opportunites came up. now i can go look at a local one i was more interested in, than the 79.

I'd probably bid on it myself if I hadn't picked up my SE at such a good price. If I couldn't have had a GSL-SE an SA would have been my second choice.

Nice car. Hope some schmuck doesn't prang you at the end of the bidding. I bought the SE on E-bay fully expecting someone to do that.

I hit the reload on the page every ten seconds during the last two minutes of bidding (thank god for high speed intardnet). When I finally got that 'You are the winning bidder' I was excited.

Then I realized I had to tell the wife what I did. I wasn't quite as excited at that point.

I understand the part about telling the wife....... I used to have that same problem. "She" didn't want me to have any "toys". Got rid of her, and got my toy, double bonus..............
