I measured the "cutout diameter" to be approx 4 1/4" and the depth to be about 2".

I am looking at purchasing speakers that require a 4 11/16" cutout diameter and a 2 3/8" depth. I plan on using a new kick panel made of 1/4" hardboard and top mouting the speakers on this, with a space of some sort to make up the 1/8" if needed. But I am worred about the cutout diameter. I need another 7/16 of an inch, and I'm hoping that the spacer and the slope of the speaker will get me there.

Just wondering if any of yall know if this will work for sure, or if you have similar speakers mounted and how you did it. No way I want to upgrade with 4" again.

Right on.

Why don't you pump them in the door panels? Seen plenty of topics on where to cut etc.
