thinking of buying rx7

I came here hoping to get every1's 5 cents.
There is this guy that will sell me a 1985 rx7 glse.
he said 1 of the pistons (well it's not pistons but you know what i mean) is down on psi. then the others so i am thinking new motor. BUT he says it runs and drives.
well it was up on rack. high up in the air. so all i seen was drivers side body, front side, back side. could not see inside or right side or ontop. well all of what i could see was verry nice. From what i could tell from under it verry nice. new exhuast, new tires i know. ok, so, what would it cost for newer swap for this?? i have done little research. i think it has 13b motor if it is it how much would that run me???? well anyways i can get the car for $550. So i am going down there in the morning to get a look at the rest of it but if everything checks a ok what do you think??? thanx all you guys first rx7 project. I have 11 second b16a turbo 1986 honda CRX si. Thats my street car. so to you guys i was reading in kills storys yes some them little 4 bangers are fast. And i know cuss i own 1. And i love it.. buy it, then learn what a rotary engine does, then fix it, then put a TII in it, then blow the doors off of your own crx street car! but that's just my "5" cents

First off welcom to the forum.

Man buy that car, for $550 you can't go wrong. Like poweRX-7 said take the time to learn about Rotory Engins and enjoy the most amazing and enjoyable car in existence. It is probably the smoothest running engin you will ever incounter, the driver centric cockpit makes you feel like the car is an extension of your body. The throttle respons is quick, with vertually no red line. All in all they are a fine performance machene

Enjoy

I had the chance to buy a competely running gsl-se for $200 and passed it up, my friend wanted it and we kept arguing over who was going to get it because technically he found it, but had trouble getting money for it... i gave him the chance to keep dicking around trying to get money and it was baught out from under us... anyway, get that se that's a good price, just needs a good rebuild probably run you... $400? never looked at rebuild kits but...while you're rebuilding send it in for a street port or maybe a bridge port.

ok im thinkin of buyin one two cept its a 83 model with a 12a, ive been doin a lot of research on them and they seem pretty awesome one problem seems to be that they are renouned for blowing up and being bloody expensive to repair, how mush of a problem is this for all of you? is there things you can do to get a longer life out of it?

i have found in my limited time with them, that they are reliable as long as you know how to take car of them. if you check the oil regularly, never let it overheat, rev the hell out of it every so often, and make all the maintenance requirements, they can be great cars. this is what i have found in only the 3+ years of owning rx's, but i have heard the same from others.

just remember, it is a 20 year old car, and you never know exactly what it has been through! mine was a one owner car, with low miles (yeah, i know i got lucky)
just my .02
