Thermal reactor "holes"

Hi everybody.

From the engine to the thermal reactor there are 2 big holes - for the exhaust gases of course. But next to them there are also 2 small ones. Does anybody know what these are for? Because for the air there is an extra input elsewhere...

Air being injected into the thermal reactor to assistant in lower the emissions. Those need to be plugged if installing a header.

Those holes are where air from the air pump goes, to get to the exhaust ports.

The air for the exhaust ports first goes through the ACV, then on to the heat exchanger. From there (after it gets heated by exhaust gases for better ignition) it goes through the outer layer of the downpipe (adding more heat) to the thermal reactor, and then on through those holes in the rotor housing until FINALLY it gets to the exhaust ports.

Whew!

Well at least now you know why a new downpipe costs an arm, leg, and your two first born sons.

Wow!

So these 2 holes are in fact "inputs" not "outputs". But there is also a direct connection from the ACV to the right top of the reactor. I always thought thats the only way where air gets in. And I also thought that the air escapes only through the 3rd "muffler".

Well you always learn something new!

The inlet at the top right of the reactor is where air for the cooling jacket goes in. Under conditions where the TR would run too hot, the ACV directs air to this cooling jacket to cool it down. The mini-pipe running alongside the exhaust system is the outlet for this.

3rd muffler?? I only count one.
