thermal pellet, why?

i am going to order overhaul kit B from atkins but im wondering why they have a 86+ thermal pellet with teh kit? i thought 12a's didnt have thermal pellets? and what the hell do these things do anyways?

the thermal pellet limits oil flow to the rotors to help it get to operating temperature quicker and get the car to running with lower emissions quicker, also to raise the oil and coolant temps at the same rate roughly.

so i took my motor apart and found out my 12a does have one, learn somethign new everyday

oh ok i was looking at the oil jet on the eshaft stupid me, ok so someone show me where the hell a thermal pellet goes and explain why the 12a overhaul kit comes with one

it goes inside the front end of the shaft. no clue tho as to why it's in the 12a kit.

The kit won't have the thermal pellet. As the website says, it is only for 86+ 13b. If you saw the kit on their ebay store or something and it says that it has the thermal pellet, it is probably just a mistake.

oh sweet thanks solves the confusion! i understand now, i was thinking they meant they were giving you a pellet from a 86+ engine for some season

When I bought my kit from Atkins I didn't get an actual thermal pellet, I think they mention what they do somewhere on the website.

that's saying that the pellet is include in the 86+ kits.
