There is something I don't understand about my engine
You guys probably remember my thread couple of weeks ago where I said I blew an apex seal in the rear rotor. The symptoms that made me arrive at that conclusion are a lumpy idle, funny exhaust sound, reduced power, 1 big whoosh and 2 small ones when doing ghetto test, 70 psi on the best side of that rotor, oil and fumes coming out of the oil filler neck.
But now I'm not so sure, because when I do step on it, even though it has less power, it doesn't behave like a one rotor engine. Take today for example, I got out of a parking lot and into the street. I had a fire truck on my left side. I wanted to go on the left lane, so I floored it in 1st, took it to 7k rpm, changed fast to 2nd, and had a loud chirp of the tires. And they are 215's. That's not right with a one blown rotor is it? Now definitely something broke, maybe the oil ring seals, but maybe not the apex seals? the ghetto compression test is the only thing that doesn't make sense then.
Obviously the truth will surface once I remove the engine and get it torn apart. But that might not happen for awhile. Anybody has any input on what could be the problem?

why dont you go to autozone, use their "free rent a tool" service, and compression check both rotors. Remember to remove the valve at the end of the compression meter so you can get an accurate reading of all 3 sides of the rotor. Its free, and its the right way to do it, so why not.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
why hasnt your motor builder looked at it? its easy enough for him to check it and since your a valued customer he should provide the service free of charge!!

I see. Maybe that's what it is. I mean, I've gone up to 90 mph and the only reason I didn't go higher is because I was afraid I would pass out from the amount of fumes coming into the interior of the car
But yeah, eventually the builder will get it for a teardown, and then we'll know for sure what it was. I just wanted to get an explanation of how is the engine performing as it is with those symptoms.

No, not yet. I just bought an engine on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT so I'm gonna swap it and give the blown one to the builder for him to have fun with it.

Something's wrong in the rear rotor for sure though. I got 70 psi on the best of the 3 chambers. If not blown apex seal, what else can blow that will make it loose pressure? I guess that was my original question.

could have lost arch on the apex seal springs, this would cause low compression test, would affect the upper RPM running but not as bad as a blown seal.

Thx. I'm actually picking it up tomorrow, so no shipping costs
I thought it was a deal too, as I snip it the last 10 seconds of the auction. Hopefully it is all it's claiming to be.
