Larger rotors will not fade as fast as stock. 60-0 times will not be much different than stock.

I don't know who made the rotors. The nice thing is that when I need new rotors I can get them from Jags or Summit racing for about $50ea

No it's not bad, just not necessary. With four piston calpers they push on both sides of the pad equally, so the caliper does not move as the pads wear. So they can be fixed

So I guess with this kit, with a 5-lug bolt pattern - and I'd be set.

I wonder if they offer that, so I could "bolt-on" 5 lug wheels up front.

Well paul, let me know how you like the SE kit. It was 1400 you say? What size rims are you required to use with this setup?

Do you know how much the rear SE kit costs? I'd imagine it'd be less because the rotors dont have to be hubbed like the fronts are.

Are there any master cylinder for proportioning valves modifications you have to do?

Some 15' wheels will fit but 16' and up for sure.

The compleat kit is $2000.

Stock master with front only works good, I added a wildwood proportioning valve to the rear brakes.

With the full kit a aftermarket setup is needed. But I did't ask Tom what it was.

After looking at the kit I think they might be able to drill it for 5 lug.

...and you'll have 1/2 the brake capability as Paul.

so is the jury out on if the big brake kit will acctually provide quicker stopping times? even though it seems the area is the same it is further out from the hub. and it seems to be that the further out from the hub you travel the more effective the brakes. Think of it as the same principle on why a car with a 15 inch steering wheel is easyer to turn than a car with a 13 inch steeringwheel

It's only $600 more dollers, then you could buy new rotors for $34

No its not, its $1,400 more. Because the RX7.com kit is front AND rear.

Plus, who the F**K would spend $2,000+ on a weekend warrior fun-drive car.

i could have my own custom made for that much.... thast a LOT of money.

I have no reason to spend that much on friggin brake rotors and calipers..

Remeber, these brakes will only stop as good as your tires, if your not running R-Compound on the street, upgrades brakes are useless.

I can stop VERY quick with the GSL-SE brakes and R-Comp's. however I can get to a point where I get them to start fading, these upgraded rotors and calipers will allow for increased fade resistance.

Why would someone want to build a turbo first gen only to stop slower than an 18 wheeler?

Why have R-Comp tires? Why upgrade the stock radio?
Why would I need a new Exhaust? Why install a roll bar when I don't ever plan to roll it? Because its about you car and what you do with it. I'd feel justified in spending that for a set of brakes. I'd feel ok spending $500 for a carbon fiber hood.

The same reason some buy 5 way Tokico vs. the Blues, yes they cost more, but they also do more.

dood i have mad respect for you, but if ur sassy to me i wont keep it very long.

you're telling me you DONT see my point at all?

Do you think that spending $800 upgrading my entire braking system is going to be a waste of money, and the ONLY system for ANYONE worth getting is the $2500 system? No, its not.

Not even worth continuing an argument.

Those brakes are SWEET, but i am FAR from a competitive track racer, and have no need to spend that much on something that would be little more than a convinience for me. So i will settle for the measly, underpriced $800 kit instead

ioTus I have mad respect for you, your car is one FINE example of the RX-7.

I did'nt like the "who the F**K would spend $2,000+ on a weekend warrior fun-drive car." part

The RX7.com kit is nice, that kit will cover 95% of all GSL-SE owners, people think thier cars stop well, will be amazed how much better when its all new like that.

But at the same there are a few people who belive they need just a bit more than the other 95%

I think Steve's (AJC13B) car was what dreams are made of, but who needs a 10second weekend warrior? He also upgrade his brakes, and he did need them.

No offence was to be given or taken to anyone. just trying to show off Paul's new toys, Paul has put a ton of work into his car, I'm quite jealous of his car and what he has done to it.

I never want to come accross as an ahole, just a diehard 7 fan who loves his car and tries to share any knowledge that I can

I have Slotted rotors, stainless steel brake lines, synthetic brake fluid, Hawk Racing Pads and Drag Radials on my car.

Braking has improved dramatically, especially slowing down from 130mph burts.

However, even at the 1/4 mile track, I feel like I need more room to slow down, after trapping close to 120mph. (That was then, now it should be even faster).
As it is, I take the last turn you could make. I wonder how hard it is to stop for those really, really fast 10 sec cars..

I like the big brake kit, even if it's just for the "bling" factor of it. When I run a widebody on 17" rims, I want to "show off my baby's shoes". I just wish it was cheaper, or that it would be a TII brake swap for simplicity.

I was out of line w/ my original statement, sorry about that.

What i was meaning to say was that i have no reason to get that, as the most aggresively i ever drive my car is spirited mountain/country roads, or the "race what you brung" friday night drags for $6 at the local track.

My appologies. I'm a computer geek, yet sometimes i hate the internet hehe.
