Thanks -Again
Just wanted to let you all know that this forum -site does great work, even when you don't know it. I have a 1985 GSL-SE, original owner - 27K miles.
I had a problem with the brake light staying on. I thought it was the e-brake solenoid, but some research on this site directed me to check the brake
fluid level. And that was the problem. I know this was a minor issue, but big to me since everything works on the car (even has original tires).
I was bracing myself to disassemble the e-brake housing, etc.
I just wanted the contributors to this forum/site to know that their experiences, communication and knowledge-sharing is much appreciated, even
when the issue may be relatively minor.
Thanks again,
don

Yes, actually. Car has always been in a heated garage. Tires still seem good, no cracks or distortions. I'm surprised they they are in such good condition
However, I am careful regardless. Everything on the car is original (except the fuel pump).

Lets see, which is cheaper; new tires or fixing that fender damaged when the 40 year old tire decided to disintegrate? I appreciate keeping the original tires but get another set of wheels with some modern rubber.
Thanks for appreciating our babbling about all things RX-7!

Make an educated decision on driving on these tires my friend (see link below), it's recommended that tires be replaced at least every six years and the "maximum" lifespan is ten years for tires. At forty years old your tires are not only a danger to yourself, but others on the road. A "bone-stock" 1985 GSL-SE is impressive however, unless you are trailing it to a concurs auto show you should not be driving it on those tires. Very few GSL-SE's are still around and it would be a shame for you to have a blowout and damage your time capsule. Not to mention you forty-year-old spare isn't in great shape either and unless you have checked it recently it's more than likely flat too. Not trying to rag on you so please don't take offense, but as the owner of an 85 GSL-SE these cars mean a lot to me and would to see it have an "avoidable" accident.
