Temp Gauge

Hey Guys,
I just got my RX7 a month or two ago, and were having this problem with tempurate gauge on the car. I know the car warms up because it blows some real hot heat, we changed the thermosdat, and the tempurature gauge still remains still down by Cold. Any ideas on what the problem might be?

the temp sensor is a tiny round single post sensor below the oil filter. its easy to miss if your not looking and even easier to break off in the block trying to get it out. have someone sit in the car while you take the wire off this sensor, with the wire off the guage will drop to "0" then touch the wire to ground, this should peg the guage at full. now we know your guage works, promptly replace the tiny brass sensor with

napa part #TS6047SB Coolant Temp Sensor $7.99

or you can buy the $25 dollar one, but i have run both for over 60k each and they read the same.

is the meter not moving at all? Or not very far? The temp gauge isn't like most cars where it goes to half way at normal temp.

Stock I was down at 1/3 or so, and now with an e-fan I'm down at a 1/4

Normal position for the needle when the engine is at operating temp is at 1/3 of the full sweep of the needle. If it move past the 1/2 way mark, keep a close eye on it. If it moves above 3/4, shut down and check the cooling system.

it depends on what year you have to the 84-85 dash reads higher for NOT then the old dash does. the old dash should read 1/4 way for NOT and the 84-85 shoud be 1/3 up
