Tax Time

okay tax time is coming up for me and i am gonna have lots of money to spend on my car.... i know im getting all new suspension components(poly bushings, springs, shocks, etc.) but the big thing for me is gonna be the engine... i am contemplating a TII swap in, but dont really know if i wanna do that... what with the computer and the harness and all that BS. i know i will turn a hell of a lot more power out of a 13B then i would a 12A but i would really like to keep my car carbed. is there a preferred 13B carb? whats the best way to still keep the car streetable but be looking at like 200 hp or close to it out of my 12A? i am contemplating a Camden, but gotta find someone whos looking to sell one and ship it to Hawaii... used has gotta be cheaper than buying direct($2700) any advice, ideas, hints or tips would be appreciated. thanks for reading

Any of the 48 mm 2 barrel carbs will feed a 13B, unles you get radical on the porting. I refuse to even duscuss the Holleys, lol. I don't see brakes mentioned with your suspension upgrades. They go hand in hand and are pre-requsite before any serious hp upgrade. For 200 fwhp, you will need a good sized sp or a 1/2bp and a 48 mm IDA carb to get even close to that hp number. A basic TII swap with minor mods, 3" exhaust, FCD, ported wastegate, SAFC of R-Tek cjhp and larger injectors will put you over 220 with great streetability and reliability.

TII!
more power and you should be able to take out all of the hondas!
either that or put huge ports on the 12a.( if you wanna do this let me know!)
i still wanna learn how to rebuild my engine heh.

Yea, Trochoid's right about the brakes. Get some stainless braided lines, slotted/dimpled rotors (cross-drilled have a tendency to crack under hard use), and some good Hawk pads-or you could use TII calipers with RESPEED's big brake kit. For a better wheel choice (more common bolt pattern), switch out your rear axle and front strut housings with GSL-SE pieces. All the brake components are different (bigger) so you'd have to get the right parts, but you'll now have a 4x4.5" (114.5mm) bolt pattern that you can actually find good looking wheels for.

Swap in the TII engine, you'll save more money over the long run then building up the 12a. Importers on ebay are selling everything you need for under $2K, including the engine, tranny, ECU, harness, etc. There will still be a few mods you'll have to make to get it secured in your engine compartment (SE front cover, oil pan, front crossmember and mount-or RESPEED's rack and pinion kit will fit a 13b with an SE front cover and Billy's working on mounts to bolt in a S4 or S5 engine directly without the SE front cover, etc). The factory S5 TII engine is rated at 200HP. Swap it in and sell your 12a, you'll come out ahead in the long run...

You may want to search this forum for threads about the Camden supercharger before you commit yourself to one. While they are the only bolt-on supercharger application for us, they are out-dated in their technology and you may not get the power you'd expect from it. If you do decide to get one, you may have to have an engine custom-built to make the most from it. While not totally necessary, it would be wise to use irons that have less overlap (think 4-port with 12a sides and close to stock ports). I've found almost all the information I've needed for my project (except for minor details) by searching this forum-I'm sure you could do the same. Just search for TII swaps, Camden superchargers, ect. You'll find a wealth of info that'll help you decide which route to take...
