Taurus fan help
so i go up to my local junkyard this saturday and ask for a 95 taurus fan. he said that they had one in the car that hadnt been pulled yet, come back monday. well i couldnt go back monday but today i called my dad and asked him if he could stop by and pick it up for me... when he get home i was dissapointed. all they gave me was the actual fan core. no wires and no shroud.
AHHH!!! i was planning on getting my car running this weekend.. but everything has to be so diffucult. first of all do i need the shroud? and it looks like there is a 3 prong plug that has to go in to the fan for power...... how should i solve that problem? if you need pics ill take them but the guys with taurus fans should know what im talking abot...

its one of those junkyards where you cant go and look at the cars... somebody has to go do it for you... its so if people get hurt they cant sue the junkyard or somethin.
You will need the shroud. If you look in the archives, there is a whole big write up on the swap. The reason the Taurus fan has three wires going to it is becuase it has two speeds. you need to be cafefull when you wire it up becuase you can reverse the flow of the fan. Searh the archives..............

I modified the original fan shroud and bolted the ford fan's shroud to this and then just bolted the original shroud back onto the rad. I also cut away the larger section of the original to clean it up a little.

If you want to do it right, you need to remove the radiator. Then you can lay the rad face down and put the fan on top where you want it. Then it's just a matter of getting some metal strap. (can be found in any hardware store.) And making up some brackets. drill a small hole in the schroud to mount the brackets. I used a screw and locking nut. Leave pleanty of strap like 6 inches or so then go back and trim them after they are mounted. Obviously don't use to long of a screw it will hit the fan.
I would also suggest maybe getting a new radiator at this point. Other wise a month down the road when you decide U need a new rad you'll have to remake all the brackets again just like I had to do. A new one is only like 90 bucks to your door from radiators.com. The new radiator had different schroud mounting points so I had to cut and bend the new rad brackets. you shouldn't have to do that if your useing the factory rad.
Good luck!

In the case of not being able to go out into the yard. Just have them right you a waver and sighn it along with 2 other people as witnesses. This is how we get away playing paintball without field insurance. And I have done this to get into a pay and pull.
