Targa Band question

I've sourced a three peice targa that I can get for. . . let's just say dirt cheap.

But I need to know how to take it OFF (this will have to be a quick job). Is it bolted? Adhesive?

Thanks,
Jay

Mine is screwed on its a 3 piece fiberglass band, you will have to raise the hatch and look where the top of the glass meets the roofline there should be some screws in front of you, then you have to open the door there should be some screws inside the door jamb on the band, then theres a little plastic intake vent on the back of the band gently pry the vent off with a screw driver and if I remember right there is a screw in there. sorry its kinda vauge its not exactly in front of me at this point

lol, sounds like it to me.

I have the ultra-rare one-piece targa band on my SA, it's glued on as far as I can tell.

Lol hey if you are stealing it dont worry targa bands are so common (j/k) that even if you live next door to this guy nobody will suspect you, if i were you first I would duct tape it to my honda and tell everyone it adds 10HP, because who wants to talk to a ricer you would just annoy the cops away, wait a week after the heat dies down and install it

Unfortunately, velcro wasn't invented when targa bands were cool. And fortunately, neither was 3m adhesive strips.

Velcro was invented in 1948; patent applied for in 1951.

So !? That just means that targa bands would have only been cool on RX-7's before 1948. In other words, targa bands can't be cool. Oh, targa tops can be, but a band of useless stainless across a roof line that is intended to make you imagine what if I had a targa top ??? Uh.....No!

I've never seen one in real life. So explain to me

They're just pieces of aluminum and/or plastic and nothing else?

It's a steel band across the 'behdind the window' pillar. Pretty damn useless, that's why I'm going to sell it

It does absolutely nothing. It appeals to the crowd that will buy and add anything to their car just because it is aftermarket for their car. Kinda like pre-ricer bling.

Uh oh, I just had an idea of rice.

Since this is the only kind of rice that is actually RX-7 specific, I'm thinking it would like kinda sweet in carbon fiber. Especially if it would match a hood.

It's not RX7 specific. It started with (as far as I know, I'm probably wrong) Porsches.

One might argue that the Porsches actually HAD a targa model, but, so does the RX7.

I think and this is my own opinion that the targa band actually adds to the look of the car and unlike "rice" it is done in good taste, it's not to much and it doesnt take away from the overall look of the car. Let's not start flaming about rice, its a matter of opinion and at least its done in good taste unlike the rice today.
