Am I the only one to notice the antennae on the left, above the fuel door, instead of on the right?

It looks like the car has an antenna on both sides? Question, has anyone seen an early savanna that had the antenna on the front fender??????????

The dual antennas are for diversity tuning of the radio, for better reception. Here's a picture of the one-piece targa band that was a dealer-installed item on SA models. I like the one-piece units better than the three-piece units for their clean appearance.

I've gotta say I don't like them...they make the cars look pieced together...like you've gotten mis-matched parts off other cars...

apremdas:

Your car looks very tight...really a great job. One question...the underside of your hood looks suspiciously like the NACA ducts were added. I thought the Mariah NACA ducts were a total hood replacement. Those look like fibreglass add-ons.

How did you do it...or am I seeing things?

The CPRacing duct interests me also...but I don't see how you feather fiberglass into steel and deal with the underside supports. I have a great candidate hood for this (one nasty ding, right in the middle, otherwise perfect), and so I have been thinking about a duct.

Thanks,
Brian T. C

you don't feather fiber glass when bonding it to steel. typically whatever is being added is allowed to harden off the vehicle and then is tapped and riveted onto the car...the areas that contact are coated with resin and a thin layer of fiberglass for bonding purposes. Then the edge and taps are seamed with bondo. Bondo adheres to steel and fiberglass...fiberglass, however, does not adhere to steel.

Strange, maybe the date for the post is off because I'm sure I didn't go looking for posts on targa bands.

The one-piece units are rare as rocking horse turds.

who cares, thats why theres the monkey see and monkey do, and then there are individuals who like there vehicles to stand out with oem parts, i can understand if this piece was something from another vehicle, but the targa band was specifically made for the 1st gen and obviously i think it looks great, (personally) for those that can spell, The Targe bandeeee , it looks greateeee, haha, self explanatory. point made. I rest my case.

And no offense RotativoRx7, it wasn't even a good reply either. :zing:

No seriously, a TARGA* band could be painted. I almost considered that a few weeks ago. Maybe that'll tie you over until you find one.

(A targe is a Celtic wood shield... wtf are you talking about?)
