Tail lights???

I have an 84 rx7 and the tailights look like sh*t! I was wondering if i could get some good looking after market taillights or convert them over to like a first or second gen eclipse taillights or what b/c the ones i have need to be gone and i don't want to stick with the original lights...

what's so wrong with the tail lights, if you mould on any other lights it'll look like *** cause the newer cars are too rounded. At the most I'd try and hollow out the stock ones and get some flat flood light bulbs in red and mould them in (sort of like SUPRA tail lights) except without the clear plastic covering them.

Hope you understood my messed up explaination. I USED to hate the tail lights and was gonna try my idea but, I realized the entire rear-end of the FB is pretty nasty. Thats why I concentrated on trying to change it as much as I could!

This is what I did, went and got some VHT nite shades and gave em a few coats. I think it turned out prety good, and you can actually see the light surprisingly well through the black.

Nice lights! The roling rain clouds in the background really help set it off. Im thinking about doing that to my lights where did you get that VHT nite shades and how much it run you. Im in college and I'm always broke. SO cheap mods are the best mods!

oh also notice in last pic i went ahead and smoked out all my lenses in the front and sides
i painted my 15"z rims black, it really set the car off, all it needed was tinted windows and it would have been perfect

Which lights do you mean, if you are refering to mine, mine are stock.... what year is your rx7?

Rx7story thanks for the complement, I've had a few people tell me that the alunminum wing suits the car well.

It is a Konig V-racing wing.... and there is just enough space to mount the pedestals! as if it was meant for the fb! LOL

I must be crazy, but I don't think the rear of the FB looks bad at all.

Anyway, I've seen a few 1st gens with Acura tailights molded in, and it didn't look half bad. I think it was either RSX, TL, or TSX lights, don't remember which, but I've heard of people thinking about molding them in from all 3 models. I don't think it would take TOO much work to do it. Some second gen lights wouldn't look too bad, either.

^^ That would have to be my favourite FB taillight mod, though.

here's what i did. i took out my old tail light assembly's and i peeled the clear lense off and i took out the orange and the red lenses. i heat painted the entire taillights silver chrome color. then i sealed the lenses back on and just put in red led's for brake lights and orange ones for the turn signals and left the white ones for rverse. it looks awsome. costed me less than $34 through autozone.

Create a custom look.
VHT's Nite Shades coating is a transparent black taillight lens coating for creating a custom look. When applied to taillights, fog lights, or turn indicators, VHT Nite Shades appears black--until the lights are lit. Then the natural color appears; red, in the case of taillights. It's recommended for off-road use only, as it may not be legal in some areas.

Gen1, that looks pretty sharp. Black and silver go well together. Black and gold too.

Does that stuff go on the outside of the light or the inside?

I'm almost positive that it goes on the inside.

I think it's the same procedure as smoking the tails.

ouuuuutsideeeeee!..(is where the paint goes) lol..my car is still under constrution tho..haha thats probably the best view of the car, and you can still see a few touches of glazing putty on the left...maybe one day Ill get brave and show everyone my black turnsignals, and sidemarkers that sit inside the fender...hopefully shes gonna get a new coat of paint soon and that would do it, but yah for 13 bucks a can you cant go wrong, Definately a cheap mod that worked prety well in my case.

Gen1onr, you should get it painted black. It'd be like the Batmobile!
