Tail illum keeps popping after installing aftermarket radio
Okay so basically I had wired up a new radio because the stock one ended up getting scratchy with noise quality and just simply sucked genuine *** so I took the time to bypass the amps in the rear under my storage spaces and all of that, after this I went to drive the car and my dash was no longer working and parking lights weren't operating, noticed blown tail illum fuse, replaced it, turned them on and blew again so I'm at a loss, I've looked at forums but can't find anything specific to my problem.
Identify the wiring on that circuit that keeps blowing the fuse and see if there is anything in common with the radio. There is lighting wiring associated with the radio. Something is shorting to ground. Undo any connections one by one and test.
If there isn't anything in common that you need to find the short to ground.

The display dimmer wire uses the taillight circuit, so if the fuse blows when you turn the lights on, the dimmer wire is probably shorted to ground somewhere behind your new stereo.
Another one to check is the wiring harness that runs alongside the storage bin behind the drivers seat as it curves up and over the rear tire hump. There's a sharp body seam there that the harness runs over and frequently causes wire abrasion of the insulation and hen a short. Remove the rear storage bin to get to where you can remove the rear carpet toward the front and then you'll see the harness. That harness controls rear tail lighting, the gas door release and the rear speaker cabling.
My bet is that while moving the rear harness around, it tore the insulation on that metal seam edge and caused your short circuit. Check the wire insulation closely looking for frays and burns to be sure you've found the problem circuit.

Did you see two bullet connectors next to the shifter and plug them together?
This happens often. With an automatic, those bullet connectors go to the gearshift display lighting. With a manual, they just sit there unused.
So what happens is, someone has the shift boot off, sees the two connectors sitting there, and plugs them together. Pop.

Okay so extremely long time ago I started this thread and never really explained why the tail illum fuse kept popping. So after pulling the radio the only exposed "wire" was the antenna wire to raise and lower the rear antenna and after about 10 or 15 fuses popping on me I moved the antenna wire out of the way and tapped it to a metal piece behind the dash and heard the fuse go. So in turn the antenna wire was blowing fuses I apologize for the long response to this post I made almost a year ago and thank you for everyone who helped me solve this.
The good thing is that you got it resolved. I had an issue with the dome light causing a short when I installed a replacement bulb and accidently touched the metal retaining clip with a metal screwdriver. The stock stereo would turn off soon after turning it on. When I installed my aftermarket stereo system; I used another power and remote wire from the one that stereo was connected to. Whoever installed the factoryish stereo did a poor job as they tapped into the wire rather than running a wiring harness.
