T2 scoop on FB

Slowly gearing up to bring the GSL-SE I just got back up to life and it needs a decent amount of body work which I plan to do myself.

I've been scrounging around the spare parts bin and came across an extra T2 hood scoop. Tomorrow I'm going to my buddy's place to pick up an old FB hood I left there a few years ago and I plan on molding the T2 scoop to my existing hood since it has some dings anyway and needs some work.

Anybody done this before, got pics?

Should it face forward or reverse?

Neither? Unless you want to deal w/ dirt, water, and debris on your engine. It works well on a T2 w/ the intercooler on top of the engine. When I relocated my intercooler to the front I found the open hood scoop to be a pain for the reason I mentioned in the first sentence.

I'm not a big fan of non-functional scoops, but if you must put it on, have it
facing forward, and make sure it's off-center, like on TII's.

why wouldnt u have it functional if you were going to bother, bit more engine cooling.

As for the dirt and debris there are filterish things you can get that you just stick under the scoop and it will keep alot of it out

Well, ok, but that's not the function I think of when I think of hood scoops.

I have like 3 different styles of CAI for 1st gens, and a couple for turbo'd cars. all 3 prevent water from getting on the filter, yet all utilize the hood.

Guess there are some advantages of being bored at work

Edit: I ment that as hand drawn, schematics. I can build them for no more than 20$ Haha.

Lol,

Honestly, the intent was for engine cooling primarily.

I ran an FMIC w/ T2 hood on my FC and didn't have issues with debris/dirt getting on my engine.

I would have both hoods. One w/ the scoop... one w/out. I have to bodywork and paint anyways, so whats one more hood. Just thought it'd be fun.
