Hi, I have an 83 12A, and was planning on converting it to GSL-SE susp., after looking at some diagrams and comparing part numbers, it seems like the 12A and GSL-SE use the same wheel bearings and seals. So I was wondering if anybody knows if I can just buy SE rotors, Calipers, and dust shield, since the spindles should be the same or do I need to buy SE spindles as well? Any help would be appreciated.

84-85 All spindles are the same. 79-83 are a smaller bearing than 84-85 and therefore a smaller spindle. At least that's what I've observed.

 

OK, your right Hyper, follow up question, does anybody know where to buy spindles, I can't find any thing online, and conveniently enough mazda doesn't list a part number

Why not buy the inner/outer bearings, and slide them on your spindle?

I'm interested in this too as a GSL-SE rear end is in my somewhat near future and want the front to match.

Okay the outer bearings on the SE are larger or 84-85 in general?

Plus, is it the OD or the ID that is larger?

 

the ID is bigger on the bearing, so probably the OD too

 

Yes, the I.D., O.D., and width of the outer bearing are larger on all 84-85
