swap clutch hydraulics between 79 and 83?
I just got a SA and the clutch hydraulic fluid looks nasty so I thought I'd swap the master, slave and lines from my dead '83 since they're new. But mazdatrix shows different parts for the years. Has anyone tried to do the swap? The engine is from the '83 and the PO says the tranny is the original '79 tranny.

I just did this exact thing a few months ago because Mazdatrix didn't have the clutch master (I think),and didn't know when they could get anymore.I just took the entire system off my 83 LE that had been replaced a few years back, and it bolts right up to the 79 no problem. The only real differences are the 79 master has the line coming off on an angle I think, and the 83 comes straight up,and the other difference is the 79 uses a course thread pitch on the fittings, but it is no big deal if you use the entire system.Trust me it bolts right up,and it is easier to just move the whole system as a whole therefore no spillage of fluid, and such.Good luck, and get the SA going.

Thanks for the good news. I had the clutch hydraulics fail completely a month ago on the '83 so I'm happy I can use all the new parts on the "new" car.
