Swap 14" wheel brakes & rotors to 13"

I have both a 1985 GSL-SE and a 1988 SE, In the class of racing I would like to run, they limit the tire size to 13" rims.

It is my understanding that the 1985 GSL uses smaller calipers and rotors and also uses 13" wheels.

My question is will these bolt on to the 1985 GSL-SE?

What about the 1988 SE can I put the smaller brakes and rotors on this car.

Has anyone done the opposite of this and installed the larger SE brakes and rotors on a 1st Gen GSL?

Thanks in advance.

no. the bolt pattern is different. Youll have to find aftermarket rotors and caliperss.

You can put 13" wheels on your 85 SE - no need to step down to smaller brakes. Unless of course you're running in IT7 which I *think* prohibits the use of any SE parts anywhere on the car. That's just pulling from memory. However, if that's the case you have more to worry about than just what size wheels you can run. What class are you going to be racing in?

I find it hard to believe that any class of racing would encourage swapping smaller-than-stock brakes onto a car. It just doesn't make sense...

My local circle track doesn't encourage you to do this, they just require you to use 13" rims with a maximum of 7" wheel width and a minimum 3" backspace as measure on the backside of the wheel.

They allow the use of two tires sizes only, 22.0 x 7.0 x 13 or 23.0 x 7.0 x13

They are just trying to put everyone on an level playing field. I was told though I never checked for myself, that the 13" rims would not fit on either car.

Although I've never tried, I'm guessing with the right wheels the stock SE brakes would still fit a 13" rim. Not sure on that one though, it would be a tight fit for sure....
