I've got a '75 RE5, and am currently restoring it. But it kind of sucks to work on, especially since they haven't made parts for it since the early 80's. Aside from that, though, mine was severely neglected by its previous owners.

Actually I noticed something in that video that I'm not sure if it is, but it could be applied to our 12A's or 13B's.

Suzuki's rotaries were perhipheral port, but it wasn't just the big hole intake. It was three holes. Two smaller and one larger.

Now I'm not well versed in the P-port engines, so I'm not sure if this is being done when building them. But wouldn't that help the low RPM drivability? That was Suzuki's reasoning.

I read somewhere not a lot of people liked them cause they got like ~30mpg, the head of Suzuki allegedly got pissed at the lack of sales and dumped the leftover parts in the ocean.

Why do you want this moved to another forum kleinki ? I am trying to share this info with my fellow first gen owners. I thought this would give people some insight in the only other attempt to mass produce a Rotary engine. Plus the videos are very informative. As far as being hard to find one of these, just try.

My 10.5 compression, 500 lift cam, Mikuni 42 mm flatside carb, big valve ported heads, 115 hp, 95 ftlbs, 2000 Harley, gets 45 mpg. Jap bikes are supposed to get better than that. Especially considering the RE5 is only 750 cc.

BIG pic!

It's a ROTARY!! That's why it gets crap MPG!!

Here's a good display of some nicely restored RE-5s at SevenStock.

Don't forget the German made Hercules that came out right before Suzuki's RE-5.

How about the Norton Classic, Interpol II and this beauty ...the F1.

Okay... back to 1st gen RX-7s!

oh yeah, another downer for it was that the gauges looked like ***.

if I had the spare cash I'd get one. and if I had a lot, the Norton F1, weren't only about 100 made?
