supercharger Question

ive been thinking about getting a supercharger for my 85' gsl 7 from camden superchargers and was wondering what kind of mods i should do to go along with this investment(both necesary and recomended). i was thiking of running a modest 5-7psi.

Check out Kim's posts on her's. She's quite pleased with her setup and her attention to detail and cleanliness in the engine bay puts all of us to shame.

Bigger carb is a necessity. Other than that there really isn't much.

Upgrade your ignition and exhaust as well if you haven't already.

1st thing to do if your motor is not a fresh rebuild is to rebuild the motor before you supercharge.

Hey! Lets keep it on topic. Keep the dreaded T word out of it. There's tons of info on that and he clearly mentions questions about a supercharger.

1st, make sure your engine is in great shape.
2nd, make sure your cooling system is also in great shape.
3rd, bolt up the supercharger and a carb, tune, and go!

That simple. LOL.

What I added was an s4 water pump housing, water injection to keep things cooler, gauges, and beefed up the fuel system by replacing the stock lines, installing an efi fuel pump, and a boost fuel regulator.

Plus it's a proven fact that us supercharged people are a nicer bunch. Hahahaha

The Nikki will not work you will have to get another kind like a Holley, or in my case like a sidedraft Weber. Currently i'm ditching the Weber for a throttlebody.

Like everything else non stock, you will have to modify to install the fuel pump. But it's a piece of cake. Hell, if I can do it, anyone can. It's just a matter of removing the old and finding a place to mount the new since you can't use the stock mounting bracket, but you can use the same wiring and hook up in and out.

don't worry kim ... I'm hoping to be your Direct competitor

What injectors are you planning on using Kim? Thats one thing I'm trying to figure out. I was told 550cc for primaries and about 850 cc for secondaries ... I plan on running this NA at first with the tweakit TB ... which ones are you using? Sorry don't mean to hijack the thread.

They all pretty much covered everything ...

I can't wait until you start on your set up. I have been secretly watching your threads. hehehe (Sneaky laugh)

Injectors I have calculated about the same, but since I will be running the TWM t bod I will have to weld 2 bungs for the secondaries on the sidedraft manifold.
All that aside, I too will be running n/a for a bit. So I'm removing the supercharger and installing an RB sidedraft manifold that I got from a member. I opted for the megasquirt so I want to get familiar with fuel and ignition tuning on it before I put back the supercharger. Ignition, I purchased a cas set up from a second gen and will modify the cas by removing two teeth to satisfy the ecu. It has been a task trying to come up with formulas since this is not a popular set up so info is a bit hard to come by.

So far it has been a reliable set up for me, and I think the new transformation is going to be sweet. I can't wait to see the benefits of efi, cas, and the supercharger on my first gen. My goal is for it to be even more fun driveabilty wise and a very dependable instant boost set up.

My car might not have the high hp associated with turbocharging, but unlike a turbo there will be less parts to break and not to mention that all you guys running turbos are becoming like those muscle car guys who can never enjoy their cars cause their always breaking and getting worked on. Hahahaha LOL Just kidding, just kidding.

When are you going to do the "coolingmist water methanol injector" under the how to section for the supercharger.

So you finally sold it. My brother ended up getting a 5" for his RX-4 wagon. It turns out the 7" would not have fit anyway without cutting into the strut tower.

Actually I sold it last September I believe. It was to a member but I have not seen him post up.
I would of liked to have seen it installed on his project car. Atleast someone would have some fun.
