summer purchases

The summer is here and that means my cash flow significantly increases, from $0 to $any. my big purchase last year was rb exhaust. this summer i am planning on either a custom mounted eaton m90 supercharger or an rb suspension package+shocks. i can do either for about $600-$800. i currently autox and track it late summer or early fall. which should i do?

edit: slotted rotars and braided lines will accompany the supercharger.

my thoughts: adding a supercharger will put me in an autox category i wouldn't be competitive in because of no suspension mods (suspension +1). but on track i get eaten on the straights like spec miatas (supercharger +1). on track a supercharger might be too much power to handle with a stock suspension (suspension +1). i can do the supercharger for cheaper (supercharger +1). speed is cool (supercharger +1). making someone crap their pants due to lateral g's is also cool (suspension +1).

totals
supercharger - 3
suspension - 3

learn to master autoX with the stock car... THEN start playing with it.

Id say use all of that money, buy some braided ss lines, good tires, and go to as many autoX/driving schools as possible. Worry about the susp and s/c NEXT year.

Most definately seat time is your freind in any type of competitive driving.
If you feel the need to make mods on the car, suspension would be the best. As you stated, adding more power, without the ability to keep it planted, can actually slow you down.
Perhaps upgrading the springs and/or shocks/struts, along with brake improvements, without going all-out on just one area would be a better plan.

i would say i have a considerable amount of seat time in autox. i have learned the limits of the relatively stock car (only exhaust) and believe now it's time to upgrade. i would love to have more speed/power, but suspension is very tempting. for autox power doesn't mean that much and can sometimes hurt you, but i'm tracking the car this year and power does make a huge difference.

i plan on doing both supercharger and suspension, but don't want to blow all my money at once. a supercharger would be fun for everyday driving (straight line pulls) but a suspension would prove more beneficial for track/autox. the suspension would also make daily driving more exciting but i don't like pushing my car on highways, that is what the track/closed events are for. and when it comes down to something i will use every day or something i will use twice a month, i would pick the daily option.

someone please give me a very very good reason to decide on one of these upgrades. because i can see positives of both, in daily driving and track

so far in the last month I bought a 85 fb and a 90 Auti Quotro for $500 each
and I plan to buy a 88 RX-7 for about $500-$700 price hasnt been set yet it needs a full rebuilt, it runs but leaves a smoke cloud that can cover a 4 lane highway for 10 minutes

If I do get it I will first get it going, then paint my FB, then do other mods susp. boost, tires, rims, ect.

Thats what I love about Alaska, anyone over 18 can make $10,000 a summer If the want to really hard, so thats the plan, go commersal fishing for three weeks, work on my car for a week, then go back out again
