Electric theory in college is nice and all, but the Fl schooling is specific to automotive applications and goes beyond EE401 classes, I'll bet.

And awards won in extreme automotive competition applications always tends to support that the award winner, using what he learned in such a school, has the correct info at hand...

WanKeL FD RX-7...it looks like the people here have had good luck with the stock alternator...if you can pop for $40, then this is a good way to get peace of mind. Also, when it comes to power supply lines for the amps, always err on the big side...

"Economical" Alternator Upgrade from the FAQs page...

I can. And I would plan on using the car as the chamber.
I have very different desires in terms of audio quality from those of most people.
My best guess would be that you listen to alot of heavy metal to want a speaker like an EVX over a traditional auto subwoofer.

The EVX is a kick *** speaker, Eminence makes some even nicer ones, but I think if I put the speaker in my girlfreinds car with 1,200 watt feed into it, crossover at 55hz, and a little Bass Mekanic it would be all bad for the EVX.

Max you should be fine with your Mitsubishi.

I hate eminence :-P
And no car amp will ever put out enough power to drive the EVX-18 the way I'd like to (It actually has excursion comparable to a car sub, but you'd have to throw 1000 watts, or preferably 1200, at 8 ohms, at it for it to sound that nice) ... but I can dream... (...Or I could hook it up to a power amp in the driveway..... )

In all reality I'll probably end up with a JBL dual-voice-coil 10", or something like that

a little off topic but...

I'm sure it would move nicely with a US Amps 6000, even at 8ohm it will still get over 1500rms more like 2000rms on a 16volt setup

Ouch! You really think a 20 day course requiring absolutely no prerequisite knowledge of anything is going to go into the nitty-gritty of the physics of how the electrical system in a car works? Sure it more application specific, but thats all the more reason to suspect whether the broad sense of how it all works together was covered.

And awards won in extreme automotive competition applications always tends to support that the award winner, using what he learned in such a school, has the correct info at hand...
Kudos to V8kilr, I'm sure that I'd be impressed by his stereo knowledge, and I'm sure that he's spent some serious time tweaking to get his system to become award winning. However this makes him the God of car audio about as much as someone winning a drag contest or an autocross or two makes them the master of cars. Everyone has things that they can learn, certainly I'm no exception. As far as application, I've only had one car that had a "so-so" system in it, cause I was a poor student (and I've dumped way too much into my seven ), so I've still a lot to learn on this account. Theory and understanding of why some upgrade might be useful though is likely well in my grasp.

Well I dont think I was saying anything even remotely close to calling myself an audio god.

I was mearly stating what I had backing my knowledge and if the person with the aposing argument simply had "internet knowledge" then I think I would have an easier time choosing who I would believe is trying to teach something and who is just trying to chime in as a jack of all trades know it all type.

There are only 2 things automotive related that I will sound off a strong opinion about and its car audio and ignition systems.

My knowledge of ignitions systems stems from personal experience and the time in at baker college atending for a bachelor degree in electronic engineering.

I personally think its nice when someone states some form of professional schooling backing their statements when their post is challenged in a thread.

Like I said its easier to see who actually knows what their talking about and who is posting theory or hearsay.

Question. Would I have to change out my 100A alternator for a higher amp alternator if I am utilizing a BOSS AUDIO PV3700 3700W Amp for my stereo?
