stuttering at high rpm at high speeds

ive noticed that when im at 6500 in 3rd and in 4th there is a stutter like its not firing it just happens for a little and then it will go again. i have no clue what this is, it just started to happen a day or so ago, if anyone has any advice on what this could be please let me know because it is really pissing me off. im going to see how fast my car can actually go and this just wont let me do that. ive had it up to 111 so far, i dont think it can go much faster, but im guessing about 120 or so. or i hope i should say so if anyone has any ideas, just let me know, its much appreiciated.

thanks

Let's see...'85 GS, so I speculate that it's time to replace the fuel pump with a high quality, new gerotor technology (at least in fuel pump use...), guaranteed to feed even at 9000 RPMwith a monster bridge-port, Mallory Comp110 fuel pump. Why I just picked one up used from the Irving Connection just the other day. It's going into the 'CBird, though since the '84 rex is only going to be in my stable for another month...

right under the body of the car, in front of the driver's side rear wheel well. the stock ones are stainless steel type stuff.

Because he's ready to break from the pack of sheep to a real fuel pump but can't afford an Aeromotive, so the next best thing at half the price....

Worry about the filter first, 99% of the time if the filter hasn't been changed in the past 5-10,000 miles, it's the problem.
