Question Stuck at work with the wrong part - 83 GS fuel filter...Plastic or metal??

I was about to slap on a new fuel filter "real quick" but when I looked at the filter that's on there now (I think that's a fuel filter I'm looking at) it's a little metal canister, not a plastic one like I've put on all my other 1st gens. Its an inline filter just like the plastic one I bought, and its in the spot where the fuel filter should be.....

Could it be the original filter??? Did they look like that in the past? That would explain my stalling/dying problem that I researched today.

Waiting for response...........

THANKS

My old 83 GS used a plastic filter.

And, the original filter that was on it when I bought it made it stall, run like ****, and not make it up hills. Of course, I switched fuel pumps at the same time, and it was cured!

There were some replacement fuel filters in the storage bins of my '83 GS when I bought it. All are plastic.

Plastic, metal, depends on manufacturer.

What matters is 8mm in, 8mm out.
