strut bar

I was told by a member on here that they had heard of people getting second gen strut bars from ebay and using them on the first gens

I was wondering if anybody has done this and if it was just as effective as spending extra money on a first gen racingbeat

and if it did work did you have to make it fit or did it just fit like it was supposed to?

Some of them will fit, you may need to do a little tweaking.

you will need to make the hole a little wider.

I have to tell you....I read this link and thought to myself "How hard can it be to find a strut tower brace for our gen?"

WOW !! The only other ones I found were Mariah for $354 - $435 (depending on hood) and Mazda Speed (part # 04-7511-0000) - $208

My next suggestion...Miata brace by chance interchangeable?

Make your own. I did a full writeup with dimensioned drawings already. Materials are about $40, and you can modify the plans however you want. It will be 1000x sturdier than anything you'll find on E-bay.

I say just be patient and look around the FS section and get a "proper" one. I was on the hunt and I lucked out and found one right here...I truly feel the Racing Beat one with its triangulation is the best or definitely one of the best ones....these pop up from time to time...or maybe even car RB and see if they have one for sale in their warehouse etc....I really think this is the best for 1st gens...

I had an FC with a Tanabe bar. When I sold the FC I kept the bar. I had it, so I put it on the FB. All 8 holes need to be oval'd out for FC bars to fit the FB housings. If you buy e-bay crap you get crap and the bar will flex and not do it's job. The reason I used an FC bar was because it was a good abt and I already had it. Just buy a bar for the FB.
www.rx7.com has Cusco bars, respeed makes bars, mariah makes bars, racing beat makes bars, and there's always someone on here selling something used for super cheap.
