streetport engine with stock carb
how would this setup run? What needs to be done to the carb to make it run ok. Do I need a better fuel pump, etc., or will I be good to go?
In a few weeks, I'm planning on rebuilding then engine and I thought I might as well port it while it's disassembled. I'll be using the templates from mazdatrix or racingbeat, don't know which yet, but nothing too agressive.

You don't need new lines, as long as the stock ones are in ok shape.
It also depends what you mean by run ok. Your car will run ok with the stock carb and all else stock (even though I see in your sig you already have modded exhaust), but you won't get the full potential of the sp engine. To maximize performance, you will need minimumly a modded nikki with enlarged venturis, larger primary fuel jets, enlarged accel pump (i.e. Sterling carb) an upgrade fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator, plus a higher flowing manifold.

Semi-street porting
My method seems to give good results for the street. I port the secondaries using the RB template, then just do some mild porting and leanup on the primaries and exhaust. That way, your driveability is not affected. I also used an RX-4 carb (found on RX-4, Cosmo and rotary truck from 1974-78). If you have the skills to do the porting, you should be able to make an adapter plate for this slightly larger carb. I got 130 hp to the wheels. Photos and details of mine are here:

Where can you get a higher flowing manifold that will bolt up to your Nikki Carb?
I am running the set up you are talking about as we speak.
I have a Streetport 12a, with a full RB SP exhaust. With a sterling carb, only problem is I have stock fuel jets in there as of this moment.
It runs fine, But I know its not at its full power. So I cant wait until i get that jet kit in!

I'm running in my 12a extend atm.
85 rotors clearanced
brandnew housings with nice exhaust ports
12at apex seals etc, new seals and bearings throughout, new oil cages aswell
I used a 1982 tallport centreplate and matching front and rear plates
rear stat gear machined, and rear bearing windowed.
you get teh picture.
The car runs fine. So you can worry about carby stuff after you get the car running.
I'm upto 350kms btw.
all machining done by a local workshop but i assembled it myself.

Don't do anything until U can get a WB 02 sensor kit or strap it to a dyno that carries one. U can guess carb tuning all U want but every car is different and until U can see what percentage of air fuel your runing it's pointless.

I believe Carl was working on a ported manifold. Also reportedly the old pre-79 manifolds are better flowing.
