Street port 12a Fuel Issues
Well I just bought this car its a 1983 FB and it has a Atkins rotary street ported engine under the hood of it, I cant seem to get ahold of the original owner to find out what he had on it any ways heres my problem
Well Im pretty sure the guy who sold me it didnt give me the Carb he had in it or didnt have it at all the carb looks like the stock one... I can turn it over and get it running or I have to push start it to get it running, It Idles fine but as soon as I give it a little gas and let off the motor likes to die, I can get it up the road but every time I shift it usualy wants to die on me so I have to put my foot in it, I figured it could be a Carb problem or a fuel pump issue? Can a stock carb work for a street port? Im planning on saving up to buy a new carb but I would like to get this running as my daily driver untell I can buy a better one, or could this be a fuel pump issue?

unhook the fuel line at the carb and try to blow air back into the tank if its stopped up youll know, if it is stopped up unhook the fuel pump and clean the lines out good and maybe replace the fuel pump at this time, after that start with the fuel filter check, they are cheap just buy a new one then get someone to turn the key on for you and see if you get gas flowing out of the hose if all that is fine its probably a bad carb
if you replace the carb, id sudgest the smallest 4 barrel you can find or one with adjustable venturies and try different sizes on your primaries till it feels right and doesnt bog when you punch it
Id love one of the older adjustable demons with vacuum secondaries
anyways good luck with the seven
