Fuel Problem
Hello,
I just rebuilt a 12A engine and it is turning over great. The problem is when I try to start it either won't start or starts and quickly dies. I checked how much fuel was going into the carburetor when I press down the accelerator and it looks like the fuel slowly drips out, it isn't much of a spray. I am thinking that it is the fuel pump because I did a pressure test and it was a little low, around 2 to 3 instead of the recommended 3.7-4.7. Whatever it is the car is not getting enough fuel. Any ideas or tips?
Thank you,
David

Hmm.. I'd do the following in the following order, depending on whether the previous option works or not.
1) Pour 'Seafoam' in the gas tank (break down particles that causes clogging in the fuel system)
2) Change the fuel filter
3) Change the fuel pressure regulator
4) Change the fuel pump

What ever you do if you know your not getting fuel ...please dont run a new rebuild lean definatly a no no
hook a air hose up to the fuel line and blow it back into the tank just a little with the gas cap off youll hear it burp if its a clean line, if its stopped up youll be able to tell that too
clean the carb out if your filters are stopped up or just rebuild it .if you cant rebuild please take to someone with a lot of carb experience it will be worth it in the long run

Did you do this with the engine on or off? if it was with the engine off and there is fuel in the carb bowls, an insufficient flow of gas into the carburator barrels has nothing to do with fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, gas tank or anything of the sort, but with a faulty accelerator pump. And it is not even necessary that relevant to the car not starting anyways. Are the fuel bowls filled with gas at the right level?

Ok I got it all figured out I just installed an aftermarket fuel pump after using seafoam. It fixed the fuel issue now I just need to fix the timing.
