Strange engine swap ?

I have a friend who wants to stick a GSL-SE engine in an '86. The question is does the GSL-SE center iron have the holes for the passenger side engine mount.

Please don't ask why he wants to do this, he's just strange.

TIA

That is retarded. The GSL-SE was made for the front cover mounting system so I would assume that it does not have the mounting holes for the second gen style of engine mount

I agree, it's retarded. That was my thinking as well. It was made before that was even thought of.

There are holes on the 1 side for sure. Can't remember on the other. I can check tomorrow. However, even if you can mount, you would need:

- S4/S5 oil pan and pickup tube
- S4/S5 front cover (FC pan won't work with SE cover)

Then use whatever OMP. The SE OMP is like the S4. Need to use the S5 front cover if you planned to use an S5 OMP.

You would then need to rig something up with the intake/fuel. Either use the SE intake, ECU, harness, and dizzy ..or retain the FC ECU, harness, etc. and adapt an S4/S5 intake to work.

Basically it can be done, but it is more work than just worrying about the motor mounts. FC engines are more plentiful and produce more power. He should stick with the FC engine if looking for a stock NA replacement.
