Murder Suspect No.1: Air Conditioning

So, my dilemma is this: It's 90-100 degrees F here, and my driver's side window is not so cooperative.
So, I decided to recharge the air conditioning,(Which, strangely enough, was cheaper than fixing the window) and it blows nice and cold now.

The problem? My '83 GSL's idle drops from it's peachy 750, to a back-massage-ingly low 500, followed by a very silent stall.

The former isn't so bad, it makes me feel like I've got fancy vibrating seats, the latter, however, has surprised me on more than one occasion in the middle of a busy intersection, causing me to instantly sweat bullets, and crane my neck to look at the approaching semi truck with doubts of his brakes being in top condition.

tl;dr, Does anyone know how I might resolve this? As far as I know from the shop where I recharged the A/C, the A/C unit itself is in top condition, and I have no leaks.

I am thinking that one of the rats nest solenoids kick the idle up a bit so that does not happen. No idea which color it is but that would be a good place to start. If your emissions are removed, then that could likely be the problem.

Edit: Could also just turn the idle speed up to say 1000 and see if that counters the problem.

Oh no, I'm bone-stock save for an after market muffler and tip.

Of course, given the amount of parts I've had to replace thus far in my whole month of ownership, I wouldn't doubt that there would be some faulty wiring somewhere.
Perhaps even a fuse?

Tried this, and for some reason my idle went back to 750 despite my adjustment.

Well, I've tuned up just about every part related to normal wear. (Oil, Plugs, wires, tires, brakes, struts, calipers, belts.) so I suppose the timing would be a good next step.

Every time I shift and let off the gas, I get a backfire or two.

May have adjusted the air/fuel ratio at idle instead of idle speed. 2 different screws, the speed one is located to the right and underneath the bracket the the throttle cable hooks to. Extremely hard to see, even without emissions.

On my '80, it's the white solenoid. Pulls in the throttle opener (vertically-mounted vacuum diaphragm with a hook that reaches under the throttle linkage.) 80's had a relay that powered the valve, on the driver's side, just aft of the shock tower. Later years the ECU tripped the solenoid directly.

Wiring diagram, emissions circuit.

Sounds like the idle compensation valve in the rats nest. It's the white one. I'm sure I have a spare one that should be in working condition that you're more than welcome to. My SA doesn't have the rats nest so the idle drops when I turn the AC on. I just turn the compressor off when I come to stops. If you needed to recharge the AC, you have a leak in the AC system somehwere, Freon doesn't just dissapear

I set my idle at 1000 rpm and when the a/c is on it is happy at 800 rpm. or fix your vacume problem.

That's what I'm currently forced to do. Not so large a hassle, but it's a bit of a nuisance at long stop lights on a hot day.

Sounds like the idle compensation valve in the rats nest. It's the white one.
How would I go about replacing it? Just snap it off and get a new one?

Also, what should I do concerning fuses? Is it recommended to just replace all of them just in case a few are burned out? For example, my cruise control does not work, might this fix the problem?
