Doesn't take much imagination, it's a 1979 RX-7 in classic squashed cartoonish form. That cake pan came out the year the RX-7 did, I bet they shaped it after the hottest little sports car around.

An SA locally went for well into the five figures a few years ago. (Not on auction, just a classified ad) 1st-gens in the $5k and up range are commonplace.

Oh, and I've seen those cakepans before, I wonder if Max7 sold his yet or if he's holding onto it...

I got mine in the mail yesterday. They list as "79 sports car" when search'd on Ebay. $11.05 was total for mine.

That is sooo cool, makes me kinda want one. That would be a hella cool cake, and great way to celebrate the cars b-day every year.

take that back, on closer examination, it could be a shortened 78-81 280z

Anyone who thinks this cake pan is anything OTHER than a RX-7(SA to be exact) should have the access to the first gen forum revoked. That is clearly not a Z car,and our first gen cars do have wrap-around taillights.Maybe not that drastic, but they do wrap-around.

Dude, I just looked at a picture of a 280z, and it's nothing like the cake pan. The front is shaped different (not just squashed), the window is shaped different, and in the 280z the rear quarter glass doesn't extend all the way to the back of the car like a 1st gen rx7 does (which also happens to be how the cake pan does).

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you ain't bursting our bubbles.
