Angry RB Presilencer SUCKS ! Restricting ! ! !

whos got a straight pipe??? i had one one my 84 SE but it had the stock manifold so i swapped it with my RB headers and presilencer from my crashed SE......didnt really feel a difference. THE PRESILENCER IS RESTRICTING ! ! !

I'd like to straight pipe it from the header all the way back to the muffler....

what the size of the RB header outlet. 2'? if i go 2 1/2 will it make a difference??? what about back pressure???

what are your opinions and suggestions???what about a muffler i have the old school LAVA ROCK one...keep it/ toss it????

thanks,

ryan

There's no restriction in the presilencer. There won't be much of a difference in 6 port motors with headers or straight pipe. Get a carb and you'll notice a difference.

Well, I'm pretty sure the header outlet is 2in, but hey, don;t quote me on it! I would stick with piping thats whatever the outlet size is on the RB header. I see no reason to go up to 2.5, and you would probably lose some low end power if you did. As far as mufflers go, I suggest any of the magnaflow stainless steel mufflers.

Do you have working 6port actuators? GSL-SE is a real dog without them working proper like.

I wouldn't give up the presilencer for a straight pipe - unless you prefer that weedwacker tone. As mentioned earlier, the PS is not restrictive - how can it be - it's a straight through design.
And a header makes a world of diff on a 6 port - why wouldn't it??

Dude, you've got other issues. RB exhaust set-ups give very noticeable performance gains over stock set-up, FI or carb.

I've got a header into a straight pipe into a straight thru muffler, and let me tell you, it is loud... i let a friend drive it and he revved it with me behind it and it literally made my heart skip a beat.

I test drove a 85 GSL a month ago and it was set up with the full Mazda Trix exhaust & header...I think the PS is restrictive? How could it not be if it muffles the sound? I thought it was packed with steel wool? Not sure about that though, but this car was waaaaay too quiet...Pretty much stock quiet...Seemed too restrictive to me...

Have you ever looked at one? Or better yet, through one? The flow is not redirected or reduced - talk to RB about it - they claim no restriction. The thing is basically a pipe insulator that softens the tone as it exits the header

I have a gsl-se with the full racing beat header and exhaust set up. The actuator sleeves are removed and it sounds Killer, but not too loud. It runs its *** off!

yeah just take out the sleeves... you won't have any back pressure to to operate them... unless you use the ACV to actuate it... around 3800 rpm the ACV dumps all the air from the air pump out and if your clever enough you'll be able to use this to your advantage...

you live here in CA make it street legal... and you've mentioned that you don't have insurance... lets say a cop pulls you over for your exhaust and ask for your insurance... you'll just add compounding tickets besides the modified exhaust...
