Storage bin swap
Hi,
I searched, but did not come up with anything related to this.
Can the storage bin assembly from an FB be swapped into an SA, say with little to no fabrication? Them bins sure would be handy to keep some tools in and of course some Marvels!
Thanks

Yes, and no.
You can put the bins in if you swap out the partitions from the FB that has the openings for the doors and the bins will go in. But there are two reinforcements on the SA that will take up space inside the bins so you will not have a full size space.

Here is an old thread about this matter,
https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/storage-bins-79-a-16709/
Unfortunately all the pictures are NA.
I don't know how much help it would be, or if will even help at all.

Thanks for the replies.
That old thread was very helpful even without pictures.
I will be lifting up the carpet to see what I am working with and what to do next.
Thanks again

You can either cut it up the middle and hinge one side, thats how mine was. But to drop in the bins the braces will need to be removed they are spot welded I used an air chisel and some patience but removed them to drop in a back seat

There should be a newer thread searchable that has more detail; I walked through the process of making new bin liners for this purpose without removing the braces, just a couple months ago.
Some of it is in my build thread:
