Check your fuel filter, in fact just replace it.

Most likely cause is a leak in your exhaust. And btw, it is not normal for a rotary to backfire.

Really? Mine backfired BAD, shot flames and all, until I removed my rats nest and smog pump stuffs... now it's SMOOTH with no backfiring. I thought it was somewhat 'normal' for the seven's to backfire a bit.

I agree, its not normal for ANY engine to backfire. Normally, backfiring is caused by either an exhaust leak letting in enough oxygen to ignite the unburned fuel or an excessively rich running condition where there is enough fuel that it just makes a little explosion in the exhaust system due to heat, which is excessive on a rotary. I've actually heard of mufflers being blown apart from this. But a properly tuned engine with no exhaust leaks is not likely going to backfire a whole lot. Timing has a lot to do with it as well because it can change how well the fuel is burned and can let more unburned fuel into the exhaust system causing backfires.
