I have an 81' RX-7 and the STOP LIGHT on the dash is starting to flicker on and off every once and a while. I was wondering if anyone knows what it means and how to fix it.

 

I'm gonna take a stab at this. That light should be to tell you when a brake light is out. If it is just flickering on and off, it sounds like a loose/dirty connection. Check the connection at the light and also check the bulb itself.

I'm not sure how it works on an '81, but check your brake fluid level. Might be getting low.

hey manntis i know how you know becouse i know what happens too. happened to me awhile back i thought i had messed my car up

Just guessing there are two light, one for when the hand brake is up and the other is for when you have the regular brakeon. start up the cardon't touch the regular brake keep the hand brake up and when you push the regular brake there should be another stop lamp light that comes on. works on my 84. sweetege

 

Well I had a similar problem except when the stop light came on my brake lights were not coming on. This was because of a loose ground wire on the rear hatch. I put on a new connector and tightened it down and no more dash light coming on. So check that ground.
