Question stock rims

how do you clean the stock rims? the car was in a joint yard for a couple years and the rims have like a white grim on them, and i tried most rims cleaners

Is it similar to a spider web effect? if so, its pretty much impossible to "repair". the only fix i know of is polishing the wheels down to shiney metal. This makes them look chrome.

use some paint stipper or mild acid to get all the paint and clearcoat off then polish them a bit and repaint.

Some of the paint manufacturers (Dupont and Ditzler) make a wheel clearcoat refinishing kit. Basically is is a special stripper that will strip the old clearcoat off and some chemicals to pre-treat them, and then new clearcoat. These kits are not all that expensive. Check out your local automotive paint suppliers for this.
