Stock driveshaft info

The stock driveshafts are 45" from the diff flange to the end of the front yoke, and 38" from each U-joint centerline.

This is significantly longer than the FC driveshafts... grrr. So much for my idea of changing the rear yoke and using an FC automatic driveshaft when going to a T2 tranny, unless of course I want to set the engine back 7 inches.

'79-82 had replaceable U-joints, '83-85 have staked-in type.

Smile I thought I told yuh?

Peejay, peejay...

I thought I told yuh of my trials and tribulations regarding driveshafts. I took two driveshafts to two different shops. they came back better, but still not right....Slight vibrations at certain speeds. I even sent 'em back for further balancing....No luck...

Get a new driveshaft, but not from the dealer who probably wants $400.oo, but from a reputable place, like Mazdatrix....They'll send you a new driveshaft with replaceable u-joints....

P.S. How're makin' out....Let me know.
Best to yuh, and a tip of the Stetson....
Denny, from the 'ol corncrib...

I'm doin', Denny. Not the greatest, but workin' on it.

As far as the driveshafts go, I'm not worried about the vibration. I'm worried about how long the transmission will last, planning off in the future for putting something a bit stronger in there.
