Still got SE starting problems..help!
Guys, I'm 'bout to pull my ever-graying hair out.
This SE cold-start problem is getting to me, I need help.
This engine is a fresh rebuild with about 1500 miles on it, this has been happening and getting worse for the last 500 miles or so.
Problem is cold-starting. It's hard as hell, have to flip the 'flood' switch I rigged up on the coil on and off while flooring the gas. Finally, it'll reluctantly start, but there's an obvious miss for the first few seconds, (I have the gas floored the whole time) then smooth running. It also will belch white smoke for 5 minutes or so, but it smells gassy, not sweet like coolant. If figured that was due to me flooring the gas while cranking (the ONLY way it will start). Once started, it runs flawlessly, starts pretty easily while warm.
I have replaced with new:
Plugs, Coils, Cap (Mazda) and Rotor (Mazda). The wires have about 2000 miles on them, I think I'll get new ones tomorrow just for the heck of it. Could this be a weak ignitor? I cleaned all the connectors for them. I haven't switched them, just thought of that tonight, actually.
Sorry for the long thread, but I'd appreciate any input.
Thanks!

Tennis, anyone
Well i just got my -SE running, and i can say that if it doesn't get any fuel, or enough fuel it will not start or for that matter it will not run right. You might try checking all the electrical connections.

Well it sounds like your running out of options,,, how about fuel filter ? pull the hose to the fuel rail and see how the flow is,, . We both have the same B-days, you know the world partys on are birthday !!
