Stereo mounting options.

All the aftermarket stereo brackets suck complete ***.

Scosche, Metra, and others are plastic pieces of crap. There is a metal one available from Crutchfield, but that's not too much better as far as holding the stereo properly.

Manntis is not selling anymore from the looks of his website... Which is a shame, as I was looking to buy one of the three gauge units.

Is there any other seller of something comparable to Manntis' stereo mount?

I made my own this week. Havn't quite made it to the stereo hole though yet but Im going to weld a metal bracket to the back side. I cut it out of an 1/8" sheet of aluminum with a jig saw and painted it. I did this since the other center console was broke. Had a break on both sides of the radio so I got tired of serching junk yards and online and made my own. Took about three hours to do. It's a weekend racer so I havn't full decided whether or not to put a radio in it yet. Probaly will next month.

Yeah, but racingtang, yours is slightly easier to make due to it being an SA. The later models had curved panels which make it more difficult to make a panel for. That being said, it can be done and has been by several people. When I did my 80, I just cut it into the plastic but there was already a metal support bar behind the console. It has held up fine so far. Good luck.

For mine I went to a stereo shop and found one that came close to fitting, and, well, made it fit. I don't remember what company or model it is, I can go out and check later, but right now we have about a foot of snow and more falling.

This one is plastic but it's very thick and holds the stereo in place superbly.

Any more? I don't like the plastic ones because they make the stereo stick out like that.

Wasn't MIKE-P28 a stereo installer. Perhaps he can chime in...

Here yah go!

Go to partsexpress.com, get a sheet of 3/8" ABS plastic and make your own. Cut to fit, attach with superglue and allot of sanding and filler! The paint is supposed to be the way it looks. It's a metal hammered paint the matches the color of my car.
