Steering Gear Adjustment

I was going to tighten my steering wheel play prior to installing my TII engine. I looked at all the info on this and am kinda confused. Eveyone talks about the 40mm nut.. Well I don't have one.. I have a 80 RHD SA. How do i adjust mine? Thanks

Pics? And is every other part of your steering in tiptop shape? The gear box adjustment is the last thing to do to tighten up the steering.

It's hard to tell through the paint, but is there a larger nut under that 14(?)mm nut? On mine, there were three possible points of adjustment. The worm screw in that goes through the top nut, that nut (which is around 14mm I think), and then a huge flat nut under that.

It's the huge nut that you would need to loosen, then the 14 mm nut is the adjustment. The worm screw does not function the same way as it would on an American steering box.

Run a search for "steering grind" and you will find more details.

That looks like the old style box I had on mid 60's Ford pickups. You loosen the nut and turn the center shaft, retighten the nut. They were real easy to tighten too much and accelerate the wear between the parts.
