4 bolts attach the gearbox to the frame, then 2 bolts attach the steering shaft inside the car to a bracket under the dash, 4 boltscrews attach a bracket to the steering shaft, make sure the pitman arm is unhoocked, and it should slide out, i mush have done mine like 4-5 times
My box was worn out and when I tried to back off the screw it busted off inside. So I matched up the thread pattern and got a long bolt, two nuts and 2 lock washer. I put on the nuts and lock washer and ten threaded the bolt down into the hole and tightened it up. A few minor adjustments with the BIG washer and I settled in on a good no play tight steering and then got out the second wrench... one to hold the bolt and the other to tighten down the 1st nut then locked that nut with the second one.
Filled the box with gear grease from my boat grease gun. Water proof marine grade 90 weight. That was a couple years ago and like 10-15 thousand miles ago now and it works like a charm.
It's a temporary fix but damn... beats not having steering and I've only done a couple minor adjustments since 1st setting it up. I haven't touched it in years.
No play, returns to center, no wandering. For the price of a couple nuts, lock washers and a bolt. That's American ingenuity.
