Steering Box Rebuild

Hey i was wondering if anyone has rebuilt the steering box by taking it out? I read the procedure in the FSM and it seems pretty straight forward. What do u guys think?

From my understanding, there are no parts available for the steering box anymore. Also, i think the biggest wear item is the sector shaft and bearing. Have you tried adjusting the box? The procedure to do that is in the archive. Of course, if the box has never been adjusted, and you have more than like three to four inches of play in the steering wheel, then the adjustment might be in vain. I had mine adjusted at a shop about a year ago and the steering is still tight. I only had about two inches of play when I had it done. Now i only have about a quarter of an inch of play. Hope this helps.
