I'd check to see if the motor can be turned by hand. Then next I would check all the terminals and cables to the battery to make sure they are on securely. Then check the voltage of the battery.

You need to recharge the battery, it's discharged.
You cannot get our engines to fire correctly without cranking compression.
Recommend after you get the battery fully charged and tested to make sure it is still good then if you have access to a jumper vehicle. Hook the jumper vehicle up also while you are deflooding the engine.

One week old or 20 years old, if you discharge a battery to the point that it needs to be fully recharged, you aren't going to get the same amount of power out of it. It is not good to fully discharge a battery.

To deflood, pull your plugs, ground your coil wires (the fouor studs around the strut tower work great), disconnect your fuel, and crank it over till no more fuel sprays out. I generally squirt a small amount of oil into each of the primary carb barrels as well.
Obviously, if your car isn't turning over, you can't do this, so follow doc's advice first.

OK. My battery is fully charged (just had it checked). Turn the key on and warning lights come on but nothing happens. Not even a clicking sound. Battery cables are in good shape. I was cranking it with the plugs out trying to deflood it and now nothing. I can turn the alternator belt by hand. What now?

Take off the starter and bench test it or have your local auto shop test it for you. Test to make sure you're getting power to the trigger wire when you turn the ignition key to start as well.

The trigger wire is the small female connector that hooks up to the starter solenoid. There's the positive cable and the trigger wire hooked up to the solenoid. First make sure that is on correctly or your starter will not crank. You can pull it off and get a volt meter. Ground one end and put the other end to the trigger wire and turn the ignition key to the start position. Should get close to 12v's. If you don't have a volt meter then use a test light. See if it lights up when you turn the key to start position. Good luck.

Did you turn the key to the start position? Or did you just turn the key to on position? You have to turn the key all the way over to the start position. If you did that, then you have an ignition switch issues or a break in the wire somewhere from the ign. switch to the starter solenoid.
