starting to overheat

I was taking a drive to my hometown bout an hour a way and 20 minutes into the drive (@ about 75 mph) i noticed my "Pin" for the collant heat was to the second to last line. So i pulled off the road and checked the resevoir only to find it empty. I had just replaced the thing too. I also saw coolant spread over the left side of my engine. There was some inside the nozzle of the air cleaning assembly.....
But none on the radiator. All the hoses seem to be alright

So i always check to see if the level is where it needs to be. But on short 10 min. highway cruises my needle is already at the 1/2 way mark.
Just wierd because if i had a leak wouldn't i see it on the floor after the car has been parked?

Im going to check and replace the thermostat if need be. Anyone else have this problem?

You could have a coolant seal internally that has gone bad in the engine. Also alot of times the leak only happens when under pressure. Could be water pump. When you stated left side of engine. Did you mean as sitting in the car or facing the car?
Also word to wise, do not overheat it or that motor will be toast in a heartbeat.

Do some simple stuff first, check hoses, change the thermostat, tighten clamps, check the junction where the heater hose comes of the lower hose.
