Starter Won't Start???
HERE'S THE DEAL... I DROVE MY GSL-SE 204 MILES YESTERDAY... i went to HEMET, CA FROM LOS ANGELES and back... so when i got back home i parked her gave her 10 sec before shutting her off... this was around 9:30 pm... i went back outside around 1:00 am and tried to start her and she wouldn't... the starter sounds like its struggling LIKE IF your holding the fan on an electric fan and the fan motor is in a stand still struggling making that buzzing sound... i changed a fuse that says ENGINE on the cover of the fuse box, its a 20 amp fuse... it still the same...
I noticed something about my FB that i thought was normal before but the shifter fork gets really hot... i mean hot... you can smell the heat disperssing from the fork... is this normal???

heat dissapating could be the result of a heat shield not properly in place.
As for the starter, check your battery connections and be sure that they're good. Check the charge of your battery, and if both of those are good, then remove the starter and check it unbolted (be careful with it).

Keep the key out of the car, but try to crank your engine by hand or by pulling the belts... (Keep the key out because if it does end up catching, you dont want your hands anywhere near the belts... Not that anyone can really pull start a car engine, but still, be safe.)
Get it through a couple good rotations backwards and forwards, just to be sure it isn't seized up...
Also, check all your cables, as well as the mounting of the starter... I've seen mis mounted starters vibrate loose, and the pinion jams on the flywheel ring gear sometimes...

Try this... Put the starter back in the car. Get a set of jumper cables... You'll only use one of the sides. Use the negative cable...
Hook one clip to the negative battery terminal.
Hook the other to the alternator bracket, or somewhere on the block...
Now try cranking.

The issue with mix-and-matching starters is that you need the starter gear teeth to match up with the flywheel teeth. Match the flywheel with the starter and life is good.
